Our little Canadian...

Annie has been a Canadian for a year now. We have also celebrated our first year as a family and our last paperwork is on its way to China. Yes, she is OUR little Canadian girl!!!! We have been approved and are now deemed fit parents by our social worker, agency, province, country and China. Wow, amazing. Imagine if we had our own biological child. We wouldn't have had to prove our worth, both as human beings and financially, to anyone. We wouldn't have had to take parenting workshops, online classes or have had to wait four years for our child. Amazing. No wonder so many adoptive parents go through anxiety and depression- we are judged by everyone, not just our close family and friends. After all this you really feel as though you have to be the "perfect parent". Well it is done now and thank goodness. I must say though that we really do love our social worker, she is a doll and she supported us so well through some really tough times. I also must say that the workshops, networks and connections we have made through adoption, have enriched our lives. We will continue to learn, read and attend workshops because that is just who we are but it is so nice not to have that pressure anymore.

In other news, Annie blew her first bubbles in the tub tonight. She has been trying for a long time and tonight she achieved it. Annie had both Shawn and I howling, she was so proud and didn't stop even when she accidentally swallowed water!! Annie is a little fish and when her snoodles stop, we will be back at the pool. Poor kitten, she seems to have so many snoodles these days that her nose is red from wiping.

AND we are closer to getting our two little kittens!! Can't wait. I miss having kitties here so much.
